How I wear my Upart!!!!
wSo I said in one of my previous post that I will tell you how I wear my Uparts. So I don't like to put any heat in my hair so I opted to buy a closure. So my U on Upart is larger than what it would be if I was to leave my regular leave out, out. So after looking on YouTube, I saw how other install their Upart and closures. So I saw one of the other young ladies sew the Upart to the closure which creates an Upart-closure wig. So with my last installation I sewed the nude stocking cap to my closure. Then I sewed it to the Upart. I then put it on and sewed it on a braid perimeter braid but just on the sides. I don’t sew the front of the closure down. After two weeks of wearing it like that I took it down and wash my unit and my hair. When I re-installed it I decided to do a band method. Which is shown below: I hope this helps someone out there. Until next time!

My Bang!!!!
So ladies and gents I really was fiending for a bang. When you spend all this money on virgin hair you don’t want to cut it. Especially not your closures. So I was sitting back thinking on how I was going to achieve this style. Since I already had my hair on an Upart I came up with the ideal of making a bang out of some cheap beauty supply hair. I’m going to show you guys how I did it. First off I had to decide what kind of cap I was going to use to make this bang. I already had a dome cap so I use what I had. I started out by putting the dome cap on my head then sitting my Upart on top so that I can trace the portion that is out the U shape I talk I talk about in my other blog post. Once I did that I gathered all my materials and decided how I was going to attach this hair. Since its cheap beauty supply hair I decided to glue it down. These are the materials I use.I measure the hair first going across, cut it, and then I place the glue on it I learn on YouTube that you should let the glue dry a little bit so that it can be tackier. Then I carefully laid it a close to edge as I could. I did this because I want a really full bang. The next piece I curve in the upside U shape. When making this bang you have to realize that you still have to cover the wefts on the Upart. After repeating this step 3 times I started to notice that there was a little odd gap on the sides. This was my first time doing this so I had to work out the kinks. So I then started to make it into one piece and curve it. The pic probably can explain this better. Then I would alternate sides doing this until I get more to the center. Once in the center I stop cutting and just going around in an oval shape until I had this much left. I then I tried a new closure method for me. I measure enough to fold a weft in half and it will fit in there. I then I heated up this track since I had finally plug up the flat iron. Some people do the through the whole process. It helps to make the glue tacky quicker. I then folded the wefts in half let it dry a little then heated it up again in the flat irons. After that I took a tail comb and zig zag it in and out the hair so that I can attempt to give it a more natural look. Then I glued it down. I then just sew the two caps together in random spots.I'm not the best cutter, so it took a lot for me to get these bangs here. I hope this help somebody out there. I tried to make this as detail as possible. Let me know if you guys like these picture tutorial blogs. Oh Yeah, please excuse the nails! Until next time,Ms. Esh This what the look I was going for,how did I do?

The Break Down on Wig Caps!!!
Let’s get familiar with some wig caps! I have tried or purchase all but one of these caps below. There are 2 that I would like try, that I will list on this post. 1st up is the wig cap! This cap can be sewed on but I don’t advise. It is very thin and does tear. It most commonly used for doing a quick weave (weave that is glued vs. sewed) or worn under you wigs to protect you hair and give your wig a better fit. If you do choose to use the wig cap for weaving purposes, they come two in the pack so make sure use both for extra security. Second we have the net cap. This can be used to sew hair on, you can make wigs and Uparts on this. I actually made my very first wig on this cap. Please be advise!!! Don’t use this cap. The cap is very user friendly. The net give you the ability to sew with ease. Over time though the net will tear. The weave is too heavy for the netting. I had big holes and lose tracks. This cap is very fragile. Next we have the weaving net; I thought I was going to really enjoy this one. It had the adjustable straps in the back in all. I thought I hit the jackpot until I got it home. This cap was too small for my head. I rip it trying to make it fit. There is a cap out there that comes in different sizes, but I’m not sure if this one is it. I can’t give you too much feedback on this cap besides, that if you have a big head stray away from it. It didn’t have a lot of stretch to it either so you can’t make it fit. For those who can fit it let me know how you like it! So after watching tons of YouTube video and watching ladies make wigs and Uparts and not experience what I had with the above caps. I had to figure out what kind of cap they were using. I remember sitting in front of my computer watching video after video, pausing and rewinding trying to catch what people was using. It was like the worlds biggest secret and I could not get in on it. Then finally, I found a video where the person displayed that they were using the dome cap. I'm like yes, finally!!! This thing right here was heaven sent to me. I mean it is secure enough to hold all this hair. You can sew through it with ease. It’s a perfect fit for my head. I have had one that was to big but when that happens ladies, you cut off excess and sew the cap back together. It is thicker so it more durable. It’s harder to rip (even though I have mange to do it, over time though). This cap is the one for me. I love it and I would advise this to anyone who is making a wig or an Upart. It’s not hot to me, some people complain about that but for me I don’t have this issue. The next two caps I have not tried them yet but I will love to try them out. First would be the mesh dome cap. It has breathable holes and it should have the same durability of the regular dome cap. I think that it would be a great cap to try. I will try it as soon as I can find it in black. I have to look for it online because all my local beauty supplies only have color ones. The next one would be that Upart wig cap. It looks like it would be great for making Uparts. It look like it may be durable but I have never tried it before so I can’t speak on it. I have seen a couple ladies on YouTube use it but I haven’t seen a review on it. So once I try these two caps I will give my thought on them. I hope this post will help anyone out there that’s think of making a wig or a Upart, or just on the search for that right cap.

Uparts!!!!!
I want to talk about this greatness that is known as an Upart. I came across Uparts on YouTube and they change my life. So what is an Upart? An Upart can best be described as a removable sew in. The U describes the shape at the top of the unit. If you ever worn a sew in with leave out at the top, you will realize that it is sewn in a u shape. The area that left out is used to cover the tracks. So with an Upart instead of sewing the hair to braids you will sew it to a cap. There are many different kinds of caps. (Check out my next post for caps breakdown) Some are better than others. My favorite would be the dome cap. It’s durable and pretty much keep its shape. Over time all caps will stretch out. So some may say why go through the trouble of making this Upart. I have taken off and re install my u parts many times.it saves so much time. I don’t have to worry about sitting down for hours on in redoing my hair. When you have a sew in you either have to wash your hair with the weave in or take your whole installation out. With an Upart, you can remove the Upart and treat your natural hair. Anybody that wears virgin hair knows that it can be high maintenance at time. This untreated hair. Just like you hair it needs to be wash and conditioned. So when you have an Upart you could also take it off for that purpose as well. I often take my unit off, wash and condition it and let it air dry. If it will still attach to my head, I would not, I repeat not go out with wet weave. So that mean I will have to blow dry the hair. Upart gives me the opportunity to prolong the life of my hair weave by putting less heat on it; no blow dryer will be needed. Then we have the weft. The poor weft will go through so much if you have to keep sewing or gluing every time you want to re-use the hair. Once on the Upart, its stays put until you want to remove it. A Pro of Upart would be since you are sewing it or gluing it on a cap, most likely you will be doing it on mannequin head. This give the even an amateur the opportunity to create this master piece. When making your Upart, you may run into the complication of running out of hair. That means that your spacing may be too close. You may even have the issue of your cap being tooooo tight or even to small. My suggest would be to try it on and make sure that fits as you are making it. Once you have complete your U formation you just cut out the excess cap and install. With an Upart you can install it with clips, you can sew it down it or I will tell you how I install my Upart in a later blog post. I hope his help you ladies that may be on the fence about trying out the Upart. A common question that you may want to know is: Are Uparts hot? Speaking for myself no. I wore one in the Hot Miami heat and was fine.
Until next time, Ms.Esh

My FFF Week Cast Call Experience!!!
On January 12, 2013 I stepped out of my box and did something I always wanted to do. I went on my first model casting call and it was for Full Figure Fashion Week in New York. My friend and I had already made plans to go to FFF Week, so I started following their Instagram Page. So one day while scrolling down instagram. I saw this list of all the city that they were coming to. I said to myself if they come to my city I will try out. Guess What? The second city that they came to was my city. I determine right then and there that I was going to do it. I was going to go to my very first casting call.
So next was to find the perfect outfit and just do it. I went through a couple different options before I settle on this. I also went through several shoe choice before I settle on a comfortable pair of shoes that I could strut in.
The morning of I was a ball of nerves. I wanted to back out but I had too many people supporting me. I had to have a talk with myself. Listen if you get it you get it, If not its ok. I think my biggest fear was being judge and having to walk in front of all those people. I was fearful of what if I trip or even worst fall.
After I had my talk with myself and met up with my friends and they boost my confidence I was ready to go.
Once I walk in the casting call all of my worries were gone. The nerves I was had, had left my body. I was cool, calm and ready to get over with. Once it was my turn I got up there I rocked it and I was ecstatic that I actually did it. I had accomplished something I always wanted to do and I was very proud of myself.
After weeks of waiting to see if I actually made the cut. I finally receive an email yesterday.< I didn't make it yall. I am still very happy though. I push myself to do something I always wanted to do and I believe that I was pretty good at it. The reason that I may not have been chosen is because I wore the wrong shoes you guys. Lol. In the midst of me change my shoes a 1000 times I didn’t notice that it stated no wedge heels. I wore wedges yall. That may have not been the reason but in mind it’s going to be.
I just want to leave you with this. If you have a dream, go after it. You may hear a bunch of no's before a yes.(Thanks to a friend for telling me that!) But at least you know you tried. I can now feel complete knowing that at least I tried and I'm still smiling. Ms.Esh

Clearance Rack is your Friend!!!
So I know people assume that this blog was only going to be about hair but surprise!!! I like fashion too. I often find that a lot of people refuse to shop on the clearance rack or never took the time to see what the clearance rack has in store. I was one of those people. My thought was that there was no good stuff on the clearance rack. I thought that it was all old ladyish or stuff that no one else would want.
Then one day, I stepped into the light. The clearance rack is your Friend!!! Not all clearance racks have crap on them. A lot time stores will put items on the clearance rack because they only have a couple of that item left. Sometime a store will put item on clearance to make room for new arrivals.
Have you ever purchase something at regular price and a week later you find that they have put that item on clearance. Doesn’t it just make you mad? That's exactly why I like to shop on a clearance rack. When I first walk into a store I bee line straight to the clearance rack. The reason behind my madness is this:
• If you find what you want on clearance then you want be tempted to buy anything at regular price.
• If I look at the regular price items, I will be tempted to buy them now, rather than wait until they go on clearance.
• It helps me to stay within my budget.
• I come out with more items and more bags than you regular item shopping people. LOL!!!
A lot of time I even find items that I didn't see at all in the reqular price section. Sometimes if stores have more than one location, they will move items that won't sale at one store to another store. I often find unique pieces that if you had to pay regular price for them you will past them up. These are my "Diamond in the rough items". With an open mind and a little creativity, you can style them into a great outfit.
Downfall to shopping on the clearance rack:
• You may have entirely too many clothes.
• You might encounter some pieces that you love at first but change your mind about them later.
• You become addicted to shopping.
• You may run out of place to put your clothing.
Shopping on the clearance rack also works when shopping online. When shopping online for clearance, I often go to clearance page. Click price low to high and go from there.
So I hope this encourage some of you to take a chance and step into the light, the clearance rack light. P.S. As you leaving out the store with all your great clearance buys. This is when you take a look at the regular price clothing. That way you can make a mental note of the items that you can look for to hit the clearance rack.
Until next time,
MS.Esh
